They gave good advise but said it in a way that sounded like they where more disappointed in our game then they where impressed. Mr. Allder came down to our class today to offer some codding advice, and he managed to answer my drag and stick question. He gave us a code that would make one version of the symbol drag and drop, but after it dropped it would disappear and another version of the symbol would pop into place, but this one can't move.

No matter how easy you think something will be its always more complicated. The small amount of coding i need, i cant get of find. maybe someone can help, i need a way for a movie clip to appear if a button is pressed and also i need that movie clip to be drag able but once it is dropped in a certain place it can not be picked back up again. Today all i really did was look around at some of the demos done at our school and a few others. a lot of people had some really good ideas for games and others had good graphics. i still think our game will do good but after glancing at the competition, it will be harder than i thought.

I recently played the peace corps game and found it to be very interesting. It is different from other flash games in that it is a lot more complicated but, not so much that it isn't fun. With a little time it could be pretty easy to solve.

I've gotten my keyboard controll to work but my team mate can't, our codes are the same(other than the instance name) but it dose not work for him. Another thing is that some how the code has goten extreamly complicated from last year. last year the code was extreamly simple my it seems to have gotten more complexed.

I have learned a lot about my topic since I started making this game. The main thing I learned was the urgency of the need for alternative energy, in about forty years the worlds reserves of oil will be depleted. Other things I have learned is the amount of alternative energy needed to meet the worlds energy demand.

The only thing (that i know of) left to finish our game is bringing the power plant up after its button is pressed. I think i can do the locking in place down by "borrowing" some code from other games. luckily our resident flash expert will be stopping in Wednesday to once again aid us in our time of need. We are supposed to make a list of what we need for flash in order to complete our assignments. There are three things I'm concerned with trying to do, that is making the wind turbines move automatically where ever they are placed. the second is making the power plants appear after pressing there button. the third is the energy bar that shows how much energy is produced when the right power plant is put in the right place.

Because I have been skipping over the blog prompts I have to go back and answer them. The mini game had a few complications but was not that hard. A few of the complications where mostly little errors in the code that messed everything up. The thing I liked most about the mini game was the collision detection watching the carrot slowly go toward the buneh and then disappear was very satisfying. The part I liked the least was adding a score counter, the coding was a pain.

While researching my game topic I couldn't help but think of all the apocalyptic games and movies. Mad Max was the first thing that I thought of and then I thought, what if that really happened when the fuel ran out. I'll admit it would be kinda cool at first but then you think about if the world did plunge into a wasteland how would you survive almost every human on the planet is used to just going to the store and buying what they need but what if that was no longer an option. Most people don't know how to grow there own food or build a shelter. And that's what my game is trying to stop if we can eliminate the need for fuel then we could have enough energy for everyone. After all do we want the whole world to look like this?

Apparently we were supposed to answer blog posts on the page, I have not so now I'm behind. Yes I play video games in my spare time. I like to play action role playing games like fallout. I like to play them because they require strategy and are fun. These games make me think that this is a very popular type of game and I enjoy them very much. OK I beat fallout New Vegas and killed both the NCR and legion because they both sent assassins after me, so I activated a big robot army under the fort and ruined every bodies life except my allies. I'm gonna play again to see what happens if I chose a different path.

Things are going smoothly with flash it seems really obedient... a little to obedient. No it's not waiting for me to lower my guard... or is it? No, no it's not it doesn't have conscious thought... but what if it did? My PlayStation is updated and now plays New Vegas which means I've been playing New Vegas, a lot. I stayed up to 12:30 last night and woke up at 5:00 to play again its just as addicting as three was if not more. They didn't change much but one of them I love are the iron sights (the actual sights on the gun) so you can see what looking down a real one looks like, but I thing I don't like well two the super mutants are a lot harder to kill and the nightkin. The nightkin are super mutants that can turn invisible, which is the last thing I need when it's night and I can't see where I'm going. This is a nightkin

My mini game is finished and in working order and every thing should be going well, but. On Sunday afternoon I went to my local game stop to ask if they could change my New Vegas reserve from the PC to the ps3. He said no problem then looked up my reserve to change it and I happily waited. Then he just said " oh, you got the collectors edition then I can't change it". I wanted to snap his neck but the air between us saved him, so now I have to pay more money to get it for the PlayStation version instead. I think flash and game stop are working together to stop me I let you know if I find out. But getting back on topic yes my mini game is done, yes it dose work, and yes it is uploaded on the wiki.

I've done it, I'm beating flash at it's own game. Well not really it sill won't listen most of the time, but I did make good progress today. I don't know what else to type so the rest of the blog will be filler. I found out that the preordered fallout New Vegas will not work on my computer, this angers me greatly and I hope GameStop will let me switch to the PlayStation 3. The only reason I reserved it for the computer was to mod it but I can live with out that. Fallout New Vegas comes out the 19th I command you all to get it, please, that is all.

One day, one day I want flash to not be such a pain. I flew throw the first three steps of the mini game but step four (adding keyboard movement) is when it decided to fight me. I've looked at the code for ever, I even compared it with the final code on the wiki but nothing worked. Maybe it will be more cooperative Friday if not I'm gonna go crazy I will. We played several game genres and I believe that i want to make a platforming/ adventure game. I like platforms because of the timing and quick thinking needed to proceed through the levels. The hardest concept to get to people is that one person can make a huge difference. They just don't seem to see that they are just as powerful as the two super hero's in our game. Even if we us super hero's to clean the oil instead of real people, it's to show that if two people can clean it by their selves's then hundreds of people working together could easily do it.

I think using flash as a way of giving information can be both a good and bad thing. On the good side it could be used to make actual news interesting. On the bad side it could be used to scare people on something that's not that big of a deal. If used for good if can be a great tool, but if used for evil it would be a terrible weapon.

I thought we were past tutorials, but i guess not they are still very helpful. I also noticed that the citizenship community got a massive population increase and even if it sounds tacky, welcome. Our dead line creeps closer everyday and flash isn't making it easy but we have come to far to be stopped now. I found a tutorial on the wiki that shows how to make the other symbols you don't control react according to how you move giving it a low level AI.

Breonna's game "Peace Street" seems to be well put together especially considering that she has lost partners twice. She defiantly put a lot of thought and time into it. Cooperation is an important part of our team, We work together because we both have our strengths and weaknesses. Rea is great at coding and I've gotten good at drawing in flash. Together we can get a considerable amount of work done in a short period of time. Like our loading screen, I drew the boat and she made it sink. If we can continue to work this well we will be done in no time.

I was always told that objects can't have emotions, but flash dose It will not listen to me and messes all my work up making me have to start over. all i wanted to do was make a ship sink in the water slowly, instead it either didn't move of shifted positions instantly. i didn't get anything done because flash is fighting me every step of the way and I can't get it to obey. Next time I'll just save after I get some thing to work and just work slowly and carefully.

I hope everybody had a good holiday season even if you had to see all your annoying relatives. I had a pretty good Christmas I got a PlayStation 3 and four games for it. Fallout 3 is defiantly my favorite I can't stop playing it at all. Its incredibly addictive and fun I'll try not to spoil any of it if you haven't played it. I definitely recommend it if you like rpg's or shooters. I also got infamous, Resident Evil 5, and Grand theft auto 4.

We still need a few more pages for the help menu, instructions, credits, etc. today i looked on google earth to find the best place for our fake oil spill, we decided it needs to be between South America and Antarctica. Also we established a point system after getting so many points you will beat the game. Next time we will finish the paper prototype and hopefully video type it.

I just got finished watching a movie about the oil spill at prince William Sound, There was a lot of help full information in it. I learned of different cleaning methods to help the local wildlife and the environment. Also it told me how to create different ways to dispose of the oil throw natural and man involvement.

Today we started our paper prototypes for our new games. So far all we got done was the first loading screen but I couldn't think of what the next screen would be so I just stopped there. Next time I'll probably make the rest or the screens and animation.

Today we continued making our new games. We drew more flash art and updated the "choosing a topic" page. We still need to finish the research and put the flash codes in to make the pictures move.

Me and my partner (Rachael) game the "SUPER OIL DISASTER SQUAD" is about an oil spill off the coast of ... somewhere. It has penguin, stick men, and super hero's apparently I just do the flash art she's the smart one. It will probably have more humor than seriousness in it. There's also a talking penguin sidekick who we have not named. Thats all we have so far, so long.

Today we reviewed paper prototypes from other schools so we could get an idea for when we make one. A big thing I saw was the camera was shaky and you couldn't hear the person very good. So to address these problems were going to get a tripod for the camera, however I don't have a solution for the difficult in hearing.

Apparently I have been making new blogs instead of just updating the one now I probably have to go back and take the stuff off the others and add them to this one.

The game idea that my partner and I are using is an oil spill so we have to blog about that, like every thing we do. Also we had to add every one in our class to our blog lists, other than that we haven't done much the last couple of days.

harder than i thought

This Globaloria class is a Little harder than I thought but I'm starting to understand it more. If my Computer would cooperate more and if i had Internet at home I'd probably would be beater at it. My dad is debating getting high speed Internet at his house, I hope he dose so I can do some work at home. We had Internet at my mom's house but she got rid of it because she never used it.

My favorite games are Monster Hunter, Castlevania Synphany of the Night, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, and Rock Band. I also like RPG's like Diablo and Sacred, because I like the different challenges and story's. I like racing games a Little but there just too repetitive for me, most are the same thing over and over, I just cant play them for a long time. My sister loves them because she thinks she's go at them, but She makes me play until I'm about too pass out so I let her win so i can leave!
